My approach
Working together
My way of working is down-to-earth, collaborative and focused on you: what you are experiencing, what matters to you, and what might be helpful at this point in your life.
I draw on evidence-informed counselling and psychological approaches while working with warmth, curiosity and respect for your individuality.
Emotional difficulties are part of being human. Sometimes we can describe clearly what is wrong; at other times, we simply know that something does not feel right. Difficulties can also show up physically - as tension, restlessness, exhaustion, heaviness, difficulty concentrating or a sense of being stuck.
Sessions have enough structure to give our work direction while remaining flexible. There may be times when you need to talk freely and be heard, and others when it is more useful to slow something down, explore a recurring pattern or work with practical strategies. Where appropriate, we can also use grounding, breathing, movement or other experiential exercises rather than relying on conversation alone.
My practice is inclusive and respectful of different cultures, identities, relationships and ways of living.
Most importantly, I want our work to be based on a relationship in which you can feel heard, respected and able to be honest about what is happening for you.

How I work
I do not follow one rigid method or expect every client to work in the same way.
Depending on your needs, our work may draw on person-centred counselling, CBT-informed tools, ACT-informed exercises, relational approaches, psychoeducation and creative or experiential interventions.
Together, we might explore what is happening in your life and how it connects with your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, physical responses, relationships and everyday functioning.
Sometimes the work involves understanding where a pattern comes from. Sometimes it is about responding differently to what is happening now. Often it is a combination of both.
We may also identify small, realistic changes that could help you feel more grounded, respond differently to difficult situations, communicate your needs, understand yourself more clearly or reconnect with what matters to you.
Counselling is collaborative. I bring psychological knowledge, reflection, structure and tools, but I will not tell you how you should live your life or assume that I know you better than you know yourself.
Your perspective, feedback and participation are an important part of our work together.
